Colleagues,

Thank you for receiving this letter of interest concerning my nomination to run for the Direct Primary Care Alliance board of directors.

My name is Dr. Richard Edgerly, MD.  I am a family medicine physician in Yakima Washington.  I started Assurance Healthcare and Counseling Center as a direct primary care practice on the first day of January, 2014.  I initially received my Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology and Public Health from Washington State University.  I eventually practiced business management and healthcare administration for 13 years—please forgive me. I then returned to school and completed my medical degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine.  After completing my internship and residency, I ran a very successful traditional practice with 3 other partners and advanced in the usual way to become Chief of Staff at one of the local hospitals.

It was there that I grew tired of the government and insurance interference in the practice of medicine.  I left my successful practice and started over again using a direct primary care model before I even knew that the direct primary care model actually existed and was growing across the United States.

I feel that my background in laboratory medicine, business, and healthcare administration as well as my 6 years of experience as a direct primary care entrepreneur can be a great asset to the alliance.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Richard Edgerly, MD
