Hi I'm Dr. Delicia,

I'm honored to be nominated to the DPCA Board and even more honored to be among the hundreds of doctors that like me believe the heart of medicine is, has been, and must always remain, the doctor patient relationship. Physicians who have made the decision to buck the system and are willing to fight for themselves and their patients.

In 2009 I started my own practice Family First Health Center straight out of residency with the hope of being able to practice medicine in line with the values that took me to medical school.

I was soon introduced to the external pressures of running a practice with disappearing profit margins and more and more paperwork. I built my own prison. (I was an interior decorator before medicine so it was a cute prison, but a prison nonetheless :)

I had heard of concierge medicine but was concerned it would impact the diversity of the people I love to serve.

In 2014, I came to my first DPC Summit and the following spring, although I was clinically depressed, I transitioned to becoming the first DPC in Volusia County, Florida.

I made a ton of mistakes along the way and have been able to prevent others from repeating them.

I am a founding member of the DPCA, am always looking to improve my practice, and really enjoy coaching other physicians to design their personally fulfilling AND PROFITABLE DPC practices.

There is no one size fits all in DPC. Whether you're single, married, rural, urban, male, female, MD, DO, integrative, live in luxury or in a town like mine with a median income of $28,000/yr DPC can work (You just have to tweak it to suit your market).

I've had the honor of speaking multiple times at the DPC Summit and Nuts & Bolts both on business issues and my first love of improving physician mental health. I recently created the WHITE COAT SAFE SPACE initiative to make sure the safe space we as physicians are so good at giving to our patients, extends to us healers as well.

I'm Looking forward to continuing the advocacy!
